Devil's Backbone is a legendary shallow reef system off northern Eleuthera, infamous for the countless ships it has claimed over centuries. Today this maze of coral heads and sandy passages creates a fascinating snorkel and beginner dive site where history meets marine life. Old anchor chains and scattered wreckage are encrusted with corals and sponges, attracting green turtles, southern stingrays, and colorful parrotfish. The shallow depths and protected waters make it accessible to all skill levels.
