
Lock 28 on the Rideau Canal near Smiths Falls, Ontario is a shallow freshwater dive reaching 8 meters. This beginner-friendly site within the UNESCO World Heritage Rideau Canal system features historic lock infrastructure, submerged stonework, and calm canal waters. Divers can observe crayfish, sunfish, and perch among aquatic vegetation and historical artifacts. The sheltered environment with minimal current makes it an excellent training site, and the rich canal history adds educational value to every dive.
