
Shanty Bay on Lake Simcoe in Ontario is a beginner-friendly freshwater dive offering easy shore access to one of southern Ontario's largest lakes. The gently sloping sandy bottom provides comfortable conditions for new divers, with scattered rocks and aquatic vegetation creating habitat for freshwater species. Largemouth bass, sunfish, and perch are commonly seen, along with crayfish and freshwater mussels. The bay's sheltered position provides calm conditions most of the year. Visibility varies seasonally but can be good during late summer and fall. A convenient training location within easy reach of the Greater Toronto Area.
