Roca Chungungo off Antofagasta is an advanced dive site named after the marine otter (chungungo) that inhabits this stretch of Chilean Pacific coast. The site features a large rocky pinnacle rising from the seafloor, creating a magnet for marine life in the Humboldt Current. Dense kelp forests surround the rock, sheltering crabs, sea urchins, and schools of fish. The exposed oceanic conditions with surge and current require advanced experience, but the chance to dive alongside one of South America's rarest marine mammals makes this a truly special destination.
