The Abyss near Antofagasta, Chile is a beginner-friendly dive site despite its dramatic name. The site features a gentle slope descending along a rocky reef into deeper waters, with the shallow sections offering safe exploration among kelp beds and rocky outcrops. Humboldt Current nutrients support active marine life including starfish, sea urchins, and small schooling fish. The sheltered conditions and gradual depth progression make it an excellent entry point for new divers exploring Chile's northern Pacific underwater world.
