
Calichan in the Taganga area is a beginner-friendly dive near Santa Marta on Colombia's Caribbean coast. This accessible reef site features gentle slopes covered in healthy hard and soft corals, with abundant tropical fish creating a vibrant underwater scene. Schools of sergeant majors, chromis, and wrasses animate the reef, while hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, and fire worms add interest to the sandy patches between coral heads. The warm water, good visibility, and calm conditions make Calichan an excellent introduction to Caribbean diving.
