Akrotiri Fish Reserve is an advanced dive site near the Akrotiri Peninsula in southern Cyprus, with a maximum depth of 12 meters. This marine protected area is home to an exceptionally dense and diverse fish population thanks to its reserve status restricting fishing. The rocky reef features overhangs, small caves, and boulder fields teeming with groupers, bream, wrasses, and damselfish in numbers rarely seen elsewhere in Cyprus. Octopus and moray eels occupy the crevices, while cuttlefish hover over the seagrass. Despite the moderate depth, access restrictions and the need for guided dives with proper authorization make this an advanced-rated site. The thriving ecosystem offers a glimpse of what Mediterranean reefs look like when properly protected.
