Edersee is an advanced freshwater dive site in Hesse, central Germany, reaching a maximum depth of 40 meters. This large reservoir in the Kellerwald region is famous for periodically revealing submerged village ruins when water levels drop, but even at full capacity it offers exceptional diving. The steep underwater slopes and depth demand advanced skills and cold-water preparation. Pike, perch, zander, and trout inhabit the reservoir's various zones. When water levels are low, divers can explore the eerie remains of old bridges, walls, and road foundations from villages flooded when the dam was built. Visibility varies but can be good in deeper water. Edersee offers a truly unique combination of freshwater diving and underwater archaeology.
