Steinbruch Horka is an advanced freshwater dive site in Saxony, eastern Germany, reaching a maximum depth of 35 meters. This flooded granite quarry offers impressively clear water with visibility often exceeding 10 meters, rare for inland German dive sites. The steep quarry walls plunge dramatically to depth, creating an exciting wall-diving experience. Submerged trees, rock faces, and ledges provide habitat for pike, perch, and freshwater crayfish. The depth and cold water temperatures at the bottom require proper thermal protection and advanced dive planning. A distinct thermocline develops in summer, with warm surface water contrasting sharply with frigid deeper layers. Steinbruch Horka is one of eastern Germany's premier inland dive sites.
