Sundhäuser See is an intermediate freshwater dive site in Thuringia, central Germany, reaching a maximum depth of 30 meters. This flooded gravel pit near Nordhausen has developed into one of the region's most popular diving lakes, known for its remarkably clear water. Visibility frequently reaches 10 meters or more, making it excellent for underwater photography. The lake features gentle slopes transitioning to steeper drop-offs, with submerged trees and placed structures creating interesting dive profiles. Pike, perch, carp, and eel inhabit the lake, with crayfish in the rocky sections. A notable thermocline develops in summer.
