Zabargad West is an advanced dive along the western coast of Zabargad Island in Egypt's deep south Red Sea. The site features a sloping reef transitioning to a dramatic wall, with the volcanic substrate creating unique formations not found on typical coral reefs. Enormous barrel sponges and gorgonian fans decorate the wall, while soft corals carpet every available surface. The western exposure catches afternoon light that illuminates the reef beautifully. Turtle encounters are frequent, and the deeper blue water holds the promise of shark sightings.
