Kilpisjärvi is Finland's most extreme dive site — a subarctic lake at 69°N in Finnish Lapland, near the border tripoint of Finland, Sweden, and Norway. This mountain lake at 473 metres elevation offers diving in crystal-clear Arctic waters surrounded by tundra fells. Ice covers the lake from October to June, making summer diving season very short. The pristine waters support Arctic char and other cold-adapted species. Water temperatures rarely exceed 10°C even in summer, demanding robust thermal protection. Diving Kilpisjärvi is a bucket-list experience for adventurous divers seeking the thrill of plunging beneath the surface at the top of Finland, with breathtaking Lapland wilderness in every direction.
