Kalliosuon avolouhos is a beginner-friendly flooded open-pit quarry dive near Oulu in Northern Finland, offering one of the northernmost quarry diving experiences in the country. The groundwater-filled quarry provides surprisingly clear visibility in a sheltered environment protected from wind and waves. Steep quarry walls descend into cool, calm water, with submerged ledges at various depths providing natural platforms for training exercises. The northern location means a shorter diving season but uniquely long summer days with almost 24-hour daylight. Water temperatures are cool even in summer, making at least a thick wetsuit essential. A distinctive Arctic-latitude quarry dive for those exploring Finland's far north.
