Iso-Melkutin is a beginner-friendly freshwater dive in the Häme region of Southern Finland, situated in one of the thousands of glacial lakes that define the Finnish landscape. The lake's clean waters offer good visibility for exploring submerged boulder fields left by retreating ice sheets. Aquatic vegetation provides shelter for perch, pike, and ruffe, while the sandy bottom reveals occasional freshwater mussel beds. The gentle topography and calm conditions make this an excellent training venue. Summer surface temperatures reach a comfortable 18-22°C, though deeper waters remain cool, providing a refreshing contrast to Finland's warm summer days.
