The Dalton wreck at ĂŽle du Planier is one of the iconic dives off Marseille, lying at around 33 meters depth near this famous lighthouse island. This cargo ship sank after striking rocks near the island and now rests on a sandy bottom, its structure well-colonized by Mediterranean marine life. Large conger eels inhabit the hull spaces, while gorgonian fans and yellow sponges cover the metalwork. The wreck attracts schools of barracuda, anthias, and damselfish that create a living cloud around the superstructure. As an advanced dive with generally excellent offshore visibility, the Dalton is a must-do for wreck diving enthusiasts visiting Marseille and the Calanques coast.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
