The Wildcat is the wreck of a Grumman F4F Wildcat fighter aircraft from World War II, resting on the seabed off the Var coast between Toulon and Saint-Tropez. This WWII-era American carrier-based fighter was lost during Operation Dragoon, the 1944 Allied invasion of southern France. The compact aircraft wreck lies at depth, its aluminum structure now encrusted with marine growth. Despite its small size compared to ship wrecks, the Wildcat is a fascinating historical dive that transports divers back to the dramatic wartime operations in the Mediterranean. An advanced dive due to depth, it pairs well with nearby ship wrecks for a full day of historical exploration.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
