Skomer Island in West Wales is a world-renowned marine nature reserve off the Pembrokeshire coast, boasting some of the finest temperate water diving in the British Isles. The island's volcanic geology creates a dramatic underwater landscape of tunnels, arches, walls, and boulder fields from shallow reefs to deep drop-offs. The protected marine reserve status has fostered exceptional biodiversity: grey seals are the headline attraction, joined by vast fields of jewel anemones, dense soft coral gardens, lobsters, and visiting ocean sunfish in summer. Visibility can be superb, reaching 20+ meters on good days. The advanced rating reflects tidal currents, boat-only access, and the remote exposed location in the Celtic Sea.
