Elefante Bianco is a dive site in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, located in Lake Garda, Italy's largest lake. This freshwater site features interesting underwater rock formations and submerged features that have been shaped by glacial and geological forces over millennia. The clear alpine waters provide good visibility, revealing a lake floor of smooth boulders, gravel beds, and occasional submerged vegetation. Freshwater fish including pike, perch, and lake trout inhabit the depths, while crayfish and freshwater mussels populate the rocky substrate. The site takes its name from a distinctive white rock formation visible underwater. Lake Garda's mild microclimate makes year-round diving possible, with summer surface temperatures reaching comfortable levels. Elefante Bianco represents the growing interest in Italian freshwater diving, offering a peaceful alternative to the country's spectacular Mediterranean coast.
