Cape Ose is a beginner-friendly dive site at the western tip of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, offering an accessible introduction to Izu's remarkable marine diversity. The site features a rocky coastline that extends underwater as a gentle slope over volcanic boulders and sandy patches. The sheltered bay provides calm conditions even when other Izu sites face rough seas. The warm Kuroshio Current brings tropical species to these temperate waters, creating an unusual mix: tropical angelfish and butterflyfish coexist with temperate rockfish and sea bream. The shallow reef is excellent for macro photography, with abundant nudibranchs, seahorses, and frogfish among the rocky crevices. On clear days, the underwater view toward Mount Fuji's volcanic rocks adds a uniquely Japanese dimension to the dive. Cape Ose's easy access and gentle conditions make it one of the best introductory dive sites on the famous Izu Peninsula.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
