Brady's Corner, also known as Meditation Wall, is an advanced dive site at the Poor Knights Islands that combines two character traits in its dual naming: the personality-driven informality of local dive site naming and the contemplative quality of diving a wall so richly covered in marine life that it induces a meditative state of wonder. The wall formation drops steeply from the volcanic island's edge, creating a vertical canvas that is covered from top to bottom in the spectacular encrusting communities that make the Poor Knights one of the world's great wall diving destinations. Jewel anemones create dense carpets of fluorescent color, with individual colonies in greens, pinks, oranges, and whites forming a mosaic of living light. Sponges in yellows and purples punctuate the anemone coverage, while hydroids and bryozoans add their own delicate textures. The meditative quality of the wall comes from its sheer visual richness and the concentration it demands. Hovering along the wall face, adjusting buoyancy to maintain a stable position, and allowing the eye to absorb the extraordinary detail of the encrusting community creates a focused, present-moment experience that diving at its best can provide. The wall's organisms reward close inspection, with every square centimeter hosting its own miniature community. Marine life around the wall includes the full complement of Poor Knights species at their reserve-protected abundance levels. Snapper, blue maomao, crayfish, and the many other species that flourish under full protection create encounters that enhance the wall diving experience with dynamic marine action. Brady's Corner / Meditation Wall is one of the Poor Knights' most visually stunning and atmospherically compelling sites, offering advanced divers a wall diving experience that ranks among the finest in the temperate world.
