Peleliu Corner is the dramatic southern tip of Peleliu Island, Palau's southernmost major landmass, where the reef wall plunges past 200 meters into the open Philippine Sea and the converging currents of the Pacific create one of the most spectacular drift dives in Micronesia. Combined with the site's WWII historical significance (Peleliu was the site of a brutal 1944 battle), the dive offers a unique fusion of natural drama and historical gravity. The dive is performed as a high-current drift along the corner, with divers descending to 25-30 meters on the wall and holding position with reef hooks to observe the pelagic procession. Grey reef sharks patrol the wall in numbers — 20-40 sightings per dive are typical — along with whitetip reef sharks, the occasional silvertip, and eagle ray formations of up to a dozen animals. The wall itself is covered in gorgonian fans, black coral trees, and dense soft corals, with overhangs sheltering giant moray eels and groupers. Beyond the sharks, Peleliu Corner delivers classic Palauan biodiversity. Enormous Napoleon wrasse and giant trevally patrol the corner, schools of bumphead parrotfish graze on the reef top, and massive schools of bigeye trevally and barracuda cycle through the current. Manta rays occasionally appear during plankton tides, and humpback whales can be heard vocalizing offshore during January-March. Peleliu Corner is strictly Advanced Open Water with drift and deep-diving experience — currents regularly exceed two knots, down-currents occur, and the drift is committing. Reef hooks are mandatory and dive operators carefully brief entry points and exit procedures. Reached by day boat from Koror (90 minutes) or by the few dive lodges on Peleliu itself. Visibility 25-40 meters, water temperatures 27-29°C. Best conditions November through May.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
