Kata Beach North Reef is a beginner-friendly shore dive on Phuket's southwestern coast, a reef system accessible from the northern section of Kata Beach that provides easy diving in the Andaman Sea's warm waters. With a maximum depth of fourteen meters and sheltered conditions during the diving season, this reef offers convenient tropical marine encounters directly from the beach. The reef extends along the rocky section at the northern end of Kata, with coral-covered granite formations creating a habitat that supports diverse marine life at accessible depths. The gentle profile allows comfortable exploration at various depths, with the densest marine activity concentrated around the rock formations where shelter and food are most available. Coral communities include both hard and soft species, supporting fish populations that include parrotfish, damselfish, wrasse, and moray eels. Anemones with clownfish families add the classic reef encounters, and the macro life provides interest for patient observers. The warm Andaman water ensures comfortable diving in minimal exposure protection. Kata Beach North Reef offers a pleasant, accessible dive that combines the convenience of shore access with genuine tropical reef quality. The seasonal nature of the site means it is best visited from November through April when calm conditions prevail.
