Mermaid Cove near Powell River, British Columbia, is a beginner-friendly shore dive in one of the Pacific Northwest's most spectacular underwater locations. The cove's rocky walls and sandy bottom host an incredible diversity of Pacific marine life including giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, cabezon, and a rainbow of nudibranchs. Massive plumose anemones and fields of orange cup corals decorate the rocks. The protected cove provides calm conditions year-round, and the relatively warm water for BC makes this comfortable even without a dry suit in summer. The site's biodiversity and accessibility have earned it recognition as one of the best shore dives in British Columbia.
