Oak Leaf is an advanced wreck dive near Nanaimo, British Columbia, reaching 30 meters depth on a sunken vessel in the Strait of Georgia. The wreck sits upright on the bottom and has become a thriving artificial reef over the decades. Giant Pacific octopus frequently den in the wreck, and large lingcod guard territories on the upper structure. Rockfish of multiple species school around the superstructure, while the hull is covered with plumose anemones and encrusting invertebrates. The depth and potential current require advanced skills, but the combination of intact wreck structure and abundant Pacific marine life creates an outstanding dive experience.
