
Tyee Cove on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, is a beginner-friendly shore dive in the protected waters near Nanaimo. The cove offers calm conditions with a gently sloping bottom of rock, sand, and shell hash. Dense beds of eelgrass provide nursery habitat for juvenile fish, while the rocky areas host colourful anemones, nudibranchs, and sea cucumbers. Lingcod, rockfish, and ratfish are commonly sighted. The site is particularly noted for its healthy populations of Puget Sound king crabs and decorator crabs. Easy shore access and consistent conditions make Tyee Cove a favorite local training and exploration site on Vancouver Island.
