Los Canones is a beginner-friendly dive site in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic, where historical cannon artifacts lie scattered on a reef from a colonial-era wreck. The cannons have become encrusted with corals and sponges over centuries, creating fascinating artificial reef structures. Moray eels and lobsters shelter in and around the cannons, while schooling fish swirl above. This unique blend of history and marine biology makes every dive an exploration of the Dominican Republic's rich maritime past.
