Abu Basala is an advanced offshore reef in the remote Saint Johns region of Egypt's deep south Red Sea. This pristine reef rises from deep water with dramatic walls covered in spectacular soft coral forests. The site is renowned for encounters with large pelagic species including hammerhead sharks, silvertip sharks, and massive schools of barracuda. The reef's isolation means it sees very few divers, resulting in exceptionally healthy coral growth and uninhibited marine life behavior. Accessible only by liveaboard, it represents some of the wildest diving in Egypt.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
