Reef Sud 8 Patates is an advanced dive site in the Saint Johns region, named for its eight distinctive coral pinnacles ('patates' in French diving terminology) rising from the reef's southern section. Each pinnacle is densely colonized by soft corals and sea fans, creating individual underwater gardens to explore. The spaces between pinnacles channel currents that attract schooling fish and predators. Grey reef sharks circle the outskirts while moray eels and groupers inhabit the pinnacle bases. A unique dive requiring good navigation skills to visit all eight formations.
