Sandy Island 1 is an advanced dive in the Saint Johns region centered around a small sandy islet surrounded by deep reef walls. The site features dramatic wall diving with excellent soft coral growth and numerous gorgonian fans extending into the current. Large pelagic visitors including grey reef sharks, barracuda, and trevallies patrol the reef edges. The sandy island itself provides a surface interval spot, while the shallow reef around the island offers superb snorkeling between dives. The contrast between the tranquil island and the dynamic underwater world below is remarkable.
