Mattoranta is an intermediate dive site in Western Finland, offering a step up in challenge for divers who have mastered the basics. The site features a varied underwater landscape combining rocky reefs, sandy flats, and scattered boulders at moderate depths. Currents can develop along the coastline, providing opportunities to practice drift diving skills. Baltic perch, flounder, and herring populate the waters, with the rocky areas harbouring dense mussel colonies. The site works well for both shore and boat access, and its intermediate depth profile allows for longer bottom times than the deeper advanced sites. A solid choice for divers building experience in Finnish waters.
