Särkijärvi is an advanced freshwater lake dive in Western Finland, where a deep lake offers challenging conditions for experienced divers. The name, meaning 'roach lake' in Finnish, hints at the fish species inhabiting these waters. Steep underwater banks descend rapidly to considerable depths, with the thermocline creating distinct temperature zones. Below the thermocline, near-freezing water and reduced visibility demand dry suit skills and conservative dive planning. The lake's geological features include submerged rock ledges and ancient boulder deposits. Särkijärvi provides a wilderness diving experience in the heart of the Finnish interior, far from the more commonly dived Baltic coast.
