Brescou is a dive site around the small volcanic island of Fort Brescou off Cap d'Agde in the Hérault department. This unique volcanic outcrop — the only island off the Languedoc coast — creates an underwater playground of basalt rock formations, small caves, and crevices at shallow depths to 10 meters. The beginner-friendly site is ideal for discovery dives and training in natural conditions. The dark volcanic rock contrasts beautifully with the clear Mediterranean water and supports diverse marine life including octopuses, moray eels, blennies, and nudibranchs. The fort on the island and the volcanic geology give this site a character quite different from the limestone-dominated French coast.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
