Lake Geneva (Lac Léman) on its French southern shore offers freshwater diving in Europe's largest alpine lake, shared between France and Switzerland. The French side near Évian-les-Bains and Thonon provides gentle entry points with gradually sloping pebbly beaches leading to deeper waters. Divers can explore submerged tree trunks, rocky formations, and observe freshwater species including pike, perch, and Arctic char in the cold, clear water. Visibility varies seasonally but can reach 10-15 meters in winter months. The dramatic backdrop of the Alps and the lake's impressive depth of over 300 meters create a unique diving atmosphere quite unlike typical sea diving.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
