Lundy Island is a granite island in the Bristol Channel designated as England's first Marine Conservation Zone, offering some of the finest temperate water diving in the country. The island's position at the confluence of warm Gulf Stream waters and the Bristol Channel creates unique conditions supporting both warm and cold-water species. Diverse dive sites around the island range from shallow kelp forests and seal encounters to dramatic walls, pinnacles, and deep reefs. Grey seals are resident and frequently approach divers. The marine life is exceptional: lobsters, jewel anemones, cup corals, sea fans, and visiting blue sharks in summer. Boat-only access from North Devon and strong tidal currents add to the adventure of this outstanding marine wilderness.
