Sciré is an advanced wreck dive off the coast of Haifa, Israel, featuring the remains of the Italian submarine Sciré, sunk during World War II in 1942 while attempting a covert mission in Haifa harbor. The submarine rests on the Mediterranean seabed, its hull now colonized by sponges, tunicates, and hard corals that have transformed the wartime vessel into a habitat for groupers, moray eels, and schools of Mediterranean fish. The conning tower and hull sections are still identifiable, providing a poignant window into the submarine's final moments. The wreck attracts an impressive aggregation of marine life, with large dusky groupers sheltering beneath the hull and octopuses occupying torpedo tubes. The depth and the wreck's historical significance as a war grave demand respectful diving conduct and advanced skills. Sciré is one of the Mediterranean's most historically significant wreck dives, offering a powerful combination of wartime history and flourishing marine ecology.
