Table Coral is an intermediate dive site in Eilat, Israel, named for its spectacular collection of enormous table coral formations that create a canopy effect over the reef slope. Some of these Acropora tables span several meters across, forming sheltered spaces beneath where schools of glassfish, cardinalfish, and sweepers congregate in shimmering clouds. The table corals here represent some of the largest and healthiest specimens in the northern Red Sea, a testament to the favorable growing conditions in the Gulf of Aqaba. Between the tables, the reef features diverse hard coral growth including brain corals, fire corals, and massive Porites colonies. Hawksbill turtles are occasionally seen feeding on sponges among the coral formations, and bluespotted stingrays rest on the sandy patches. The moderate depth and generally calm conditions make Table Coral an excellent site for underwater photography, where the geometric patterns of the enormous table corals provide a unique backdrop unlike anywhere else along Eilat's reef.
