Aquarium House Reef is a beginner-friendly dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, named for the aquarium-like clarity and density of marine life found on this accessible Red Sea reef. The house reef starts directly from shore, sloping gently over coral gardens that teem with tropical fish species. Hundreds of colorful anthias, butterflyfish, and damselfish create a living kaleidoscope over the hard and soft coral formations. Sea turtles are regular visitors, grazing on the reef's algae, while moray eels peer from coral crevices and octopuses change color among the rocks. The shallow depths and calm conditions make this a perfect site for discovery dives and snorkeling, yet the biodiversity rivals deeper sites. Night dives here reveal a completely different world as hunting lionfish, basket stars, and fluorescent corals emerge under UV light. This house reef embodies the magic of Red Sea diving in its most accessible form.
