Fiumarella is an advanced dive site along Calabria's Tyrrhenian coast near the Strait of Messina, where strong currents create a nutrient-rich environment supporting exceptional marine biodiversity. The rocky seabed drops steeply, with walls covered in dense gorgonian forests and large barrel sponges. The current attracts pelagic species — schools of amberjack and barracuda are common, with occasional visits from sunfish and eagle rays. The Strait's unique mixing of Tyrrhenian and Ionian waters creates conditions found nowhere else in the Mediterranean, making this a must-dive for experienced underwater explorers.
