Point Pleasant lives up to its name in every respect — this is a genuinely delightful wall dive along Grand Turk's famous western reef, offering the full drama of the Columbus Passage drop-off combined with a relaxed, exploratory character that suits intermediate divers perfectly. The site sits on the southern section of the Grand Turk wall system, where the reef table is broad and shallow — typically six to nine metres — providing an excellent orientation area before the wall begins. Here, star corals and brain corals form substantial heads that have grown undisturbed for decades, their surfaces grazed by parrotfish and cleaned by small wrasse. Yellow stingrays rest on sandy patches between coral formations, and spotted morays occupy their favourite crevices at reliable intervals along the reef. The wall itself begins at around twelve metres and drops steeply toward depths beyond recreational limits. Its character here is somewhat different from the more exposed northern sites — the reef face is richly textured, with large sponge formations and extensive coral growth creating a layered, three-dimensional landscape rather than a sheer cliff. Divers can explore ledges and overhangs at various depths, each offering its own micro-habitat. Under the ledges, glassy sweepers school in dense silver clouds, and large sleeping nurse sharks are a common find tucked into recesses out of the current. Eagle rays are a signature species at Point Pleasant. They appear regularly on the wall, often approaching divers with curiosity before drifting back into the blue. Occasionally, multiple individuals travel together, and encountering a small flight of eagle rays rising along the wall face is one of those moments that cements a dive in memory. The healthy shallows make Point Pleasant an excellent site for extended bottom time and a leisurely safety stop. Visibility is typically outstanding — twenty-five to thirty-five metres is the norm in Grand Turk's clear waters — and the site is generally sheltered enough to be dived in most conditions. A thoroughly rewarding wall dive with a welcoming character.
