Hin Chedi, also known as Rhino Horns, is a beginner-friendly dive site near Chumphon in the Gulf of Thailand, a shallow rock formation reaching sixteen meters depth near Koh Ngam Yai that provides easy and interesting reef diving. The site's twin rock peaks that give it the Rhino Horns nickname create a distinctive underwater landmark surrounded by healthy reef and abundant marine life. The two rock formations rise from the sandy bottom, their peaks separated by a sandy channel that divers can navigate between. Coral growth on both formations is healthy, with hard corals establishing the reef structure and soft corals adding color to the shaded overhangs. The sixteen-meter depth allows extended bottom time for thorough exploration of both peaks and the surrounding reef. Fish life concentrates around the twin formations, with the structural relief attracting species from the surrounding open water. Schools of snappers orbit the rocks, while reef fish including damselfish, wrasse, and butterflyfish animate the coral-covered surfaces. Anemones with clownfish provide charm, and the rocky crevices shelter moray eels and various crustaceans. Hin Chedi offers a distinctive dive experience with its twin-peak topography and healthy reef community. The combination of easy conditions, interesting underwater scenery, and reliable marine encounters makes it a pleasant addition to the Chumphon area's dive offerings and a solid choice for divers of all experience levels.
