The HTMS PRAB 741 Wreck is an advanced dive site near Chumphon in the Gulf of Thailand, where a decommissioned Thai Navy patrol boat has been intentionally sunk at twenty-four meters depth to create an artificial reef and diving attraction. This wreck dive provides the Chumphon area with a substantial underwater attraction that has rapidly developed into a thriving marine ecosystem. The HTMS PRAB was prepared for safe diver access before sinking, with hazardous materials removed and access points created. The vessel sits upright on the sandy bottom, its military profile creating a compact but impressive underwater silhouette. The patrol boat's size allows complete exterior exploration during a single dive while the prepared interior access offers atmospheric penetration diving for appropriately trained divers. Marine colonization has been enthusiastic in the warm Gulf waters. Soft corals, sponges, and barnacles coat the hull surfaces, while hard coral recruitment builds reef structure on the metalwork. Fish have adopted the wreck as habitat, with schools of batfish, snappers, and fusiliers among the most prominent residents. Groupers and moray eels inhabit the internal spaces. The HTMS PRAB 741 adds a compelling wreck dive to the Chumphon area's offerings. Located near the access point for liveaboard trips to Koh Tao and the Similan Islands, the wreck provides an excellent additional dive for those transiting through Chumphon or using it as a base for exploring the central Gulf's marine environments.
