Koh Sak East is an advanced dive site on the eastern side of Koh Sak island in the Gulf of Thailand near Pattaya. The eastern exposure faces the open Gulf, creating conditions that are typically more challenging than the sheltered western side, with stronger currents and greater depth that demand advanced diving skills and experience. The underwater terrain on the eastern face is more dramatic than the western side, with steeper rocky slopes and greater depth. The current exposure that makes this an advanced site also brings nutrients that fuel more vigorous marine growth, and the coral community on the eastern face reflects this enrichment with denser soft coral coverage and more active fish life. Fish activity is notably higher on the current-swept eastern side. Schools of snappers and fusiliers concentrate in the flow, while barracuda patrol the deeper edges. The rocky substrate supports a healthy community of groupers, moray eels, and various reef species that benefit from the nutrient-rich water. The current creates conditions where filter-feeding organisms thrive, and soft corals and sea fans are well established on the exposed faces. The advanced rating demands respect for the conditions. Current strength can vary significantly with tidal phase, and divers must be comfortable managing their position in moving water. Surface marker buoys are essential, and dive planning should account for potential drift. When conditions cooperate, however, the eastern side of Koh Sak delivers noticeably more dynamic and exciting diving than its sheltered counterpart. Koh Sak East provides an excellent advanced diving option close to Pattaya for experienced divers seeking more challenging Gulf conditions. The combination of current exposure, increased marine activity, and the dramatic underwater terrain creates a site that contrasts effectively with the calmer, more beginner-oriented sites around the island.
