Lighthouse Bay is a beginner-friendly dive site on the northeastern tip of Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand, named for the small lighthouse that marks the island's northernmost point. With a maximum depth of fourteen meters and typically sheltered conditions, this site provides easy access to a varied reef environment that combines granite boulders with coral gardens in a scenic setting. The underwater landscape at Lighthouse Bay features the granite boulders that characterize Koh Tao's coastline, interspersed with sandy patches and coral formations. The gentle slope from the shore and the moderate maximum depth create a comfortable dive profile for newer divers. The boulders create natural swim-throughs and overhangs that add interest and shelter marine life. Coral health is good, with hard corals established on the boulder surfaces and soft corals decorating the shaded overhangs. Anemones with clownfish families are found throughout the reef, and the invertebrate community includes nudibranchs and various crustaceans. Fish life is reliable, with damselfish, wrasse, triggerfish, and schools of snappers providing constant activity. Lighthouse Bay works well as a morning dive when conditions at the northeastern tip are calmest. The combination of boulder diving, coral reef, and the scenic topside setting with the lighthouse creates a thoroughly pleasant Koh Tao diving experience that serves both training purposes and recreational exploration.
