Palong Wall is an intermediate dive site on the southern coast of Phi Phi Leh in the Andaman Sea, where the island's iconic limestone cliffs continue underwater to create a wall dive of genuine drama and beauty. With a maximum depth of twenty-one meters and the colorful marine growth that characterizes Phi Phi's finest sites, Palong Wall offers an underwater experience that matches the breathtaking above-water scenery. The wall follows the base of Phi Phi Leh's dramatic southern cliffs, the same vertical limestone formations that have made the island famous from surface level. Underwater, the wall drops from the shallows to the sandy bottom at around twenty-one meters, with every surface covered in marine growth that creates one of the most colorful wall dives in the archipelago. The wall's orientation provides shelter from the prevailing current on most days. The wall surfaces are decorated with a spectacular display of soft corals, sea fans, and sponges. Purple, orange, and red soft corals cascade from overhangs and ledges, while sea fans extend from the wall face to capture plankton. Hard corals colonize the flatter surfaces and ledges, and the contrast between the vibrant marine growth and the pale limestone creates stunning visual compositions for photographers. Fish life along the wall is diverse and abundant. Schools of fusiliers sweep past the wall face, while reef species including angelfish, butterflyfish, and wrasse provide constant color. The wall's crevices shelter moray eels, groupers, and various crustaceans, and leopard sharks may be found resting on the sandy bottom at the wall's base. The occasional turtle glides past, adding grace to the already spectacular scene. Palong Wall delivers wall diving of genuine quality in the heart of the Phi Phi Islands. The combination of dramatic limestone topography, colorful marine growth, diverse fish life, and the stunning above-water setting creates a dive that captures everything that makes the Phi Phi archipelago one of Thailand's premier diving destinations.
