Dibba Island is a premier dive destination off the coast of Dibba Al-Fujairah, nestled in the northernmost waters of the UAE's East Coast where the Gulf of Oman meets the Strait of Hormuz. This beginner-friendly site offers a remarkable introduction to the rich marine biodiversity that thrives along Fujairah's rocky coastline. The island itself is a small, rocky formation that creates a natural reef system extending in all directions beneath the surface. Divers typically explore the circumference of the island, where the terrain transitions from shallow coral gardens near the surface to gently sloping rocky walls and sandy channels at moderate depths. The varied topography means that a single dive around Dibba Island can feel like visiting several different underwater environments. The marine life here is prolific and varied. The sheltered areas around the island are home to resident turtle populations, and encounters with green and hawksbill turtles are a highlight of nearly every dive. Schools of fusilier, snapper, and juvenile barracuda swirl in the water column, while the rocky substrate supports communities of clownfish nestled in their anemone hosts, curious pufferfish, and delicate nudibranchs. Cuttlefish are frequently spotted hovering near the reef edge, their remarkable ability to change color and texture providing endless fascination for observant divers. The conditions at Dibba Island are generally excellent for diving. The waters tend to be calmer than at some of the more exposed East Coast sites, and the gentle slope of the reef means divers can easily control their depth throughout the dive. Visibility typically ranges from 5 to 15 meters, improving during the cooler months when plankton levels decrease. The best season for diving Dibba Island runs from October through May, when water temperatures are comfortable at 22 to 28 degrees Celsius and sea conditions are most favorable. The site is easily accessed by boat from Dibba harbor, with most dive centers offering regular trips throughout the season. Dibba Island combines ease of access, reliable conditions, and diverse marine life in a package that appeals to divers at every stage of their underwater journey.
