Snoopy Deep Reef

Snoopy Deep Reef is the more adventurous extension of the famous Snoopy Island dive site, located off Sandy Beach in Fujairah on the UAE's East Coast. While Snoopy Island itself caters to all levels, the deep reef pushes out into more advanced territory with depths reaching 26 meters, offering experienced divers a chance to explore a richer and less-visited section of this iconic underwater area. The deep reef begins where the shallow reef around Snoopy Island drops away, extending seaward along a rocky slope that gradually descends to greater depths. The topography here is more dramatic than the sheltered shallows - larger boulder formations, deeper walls, and more pronounced overhangs create an underwater landscape that feels distinctly different from the gentler terrain closer to the island. The deeper water around Snoopy Deep Reef attracts species that are less commonly encountered at the shallower sites. Larger grouper establish territories among the boulders, while schools of trevally and barracuda patrol the mid-water zone. The deeper walls are home to impressive gorgonian fans and black coral colonies that thrive in the reduced light, adding a sense of drama to the underwater scenery. Reef sharks are more frequently spotted here than at the main island, and eagle rays pass through with regularity. The advanced rating is warranted by the combination of depth and occasional current. Divers should be comfortable managing their air consumption at 20 to 26 meters and be prepared for currents that can develop, particularly during tidal changes. Good buoyancy control is essential to protect the more fragile deep-water coral species and to manage decompression considerations at these depths. Visibility at the deep reef can be excellent, sometimes exceeding 15 meters, particularly during the cooler months from November through March. The deeper water tends to be clearer than the shallows, and the reduced ambient light creates a moody, atmospheric diving experience.
