
Barren Island is an intermediate dive site off the coast of Tasmania, Australia. Reaching 23 meters depth, this exposed island reef features dramatic rocky terrain covered in dense kelp forests, colorful sponge gardens, and cold-water corals. The nutrient-rich Tasmanian waters support diverse marine life including handfish, weedy seadragons, crayfish, and various shark species. Current and cold water conditions require intermediate experience and proper thermal protection.
