
Thetford Reef is an intermediate dive site on the Great Barrier Reef accessible from Cairns, Queensland. This expansive reef system reaches 30 meters and features a variety of dive profiles from gentle coral slopes to dramatic bommies. The reef supports healthy coral gardens and a rich diversity of marine life including anemonefish, butterflyfish, parrotfish, and trevally. The relatively sheltered position provides more consistent conditions than outer reef sites, making it popular with day-trip operators.
