Cathedrals is an intermediate dive site at Thetford Reef on the Great Barrier Reef near Cairns. Named for its soaring coral spires and arched formations that evoke a Gothic cathedral, this 30-meter site offers one of the most architecturally impressive underwater landscapes in the region. Sunlight filtering through the coral arches creates a cathedral-like atmosphere. The structures attract schools of sweetlips, fusiliers, and barracuda, while reef sharks patrol the sandy channels between the spires.
