Black Forest on San Salvador is an intermediate dive site named for the dense fields of black coral trees that blanket the wall between 18 and 35 meters. These ancient organisms, some estimated to be hundreds of years old, create an underwater forest canopy sheltering a unique community of basslets, gobies, and invertebrates. The wall itself drops into the deep blue of the Columbus Passage, where pelagic visitors occasionally appear. San Salvador's remote location means pristine conditions and virtually no other divers on the site.
